BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- A film about the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC), starring more than 100 big-name mainland and Hong Kong actors and actresses, is to premiere on the mainland and in Hong Kong and Taiwan in September.
The 60th founding anniversary of the PRC falls on Oct. 1.
Han Sanping, director of the "Jian Guo Da Ye", meaning "the great cause of the country's founding," said at a promotional press conference in Beijing Thursday that the film would open in the mainland on Sept. 17.
Han also said it would open in Hong Kong around Sept. 20 and in Taiwan before Oct. 1.
Specially made for the anniversary by the state-owned China Film Group Corporation, the film depicts the history from 1945 and 1949.
Mainland actors Tang Guoqiang and Zhang Guoli, and Hong Kong stars Jet Li, Jackie Chan and Andy Lau star in the film.

A short piece about Jet Li's cameo
Info at IMdB
An article from March on ifeng.com stated that Jackie would not be considered for a part along with Stephen Chow. Apparently minds were changed since then because here you can read Jackie's account of filming the cameo (he plays a journalist) and see a photo of him in costume.
A video of MV for the film can be seen here.
